Inline Mixer

Inline Mixer

Product Overview

The MIKRONS Inline Mixer is a high-shear, continuous mixing system engineered for rapid emulsification, dispersion, and particle size reduction. Designed to process fluids and solids directly within the pipeline, this compact yet powerful machine significantly reduces batch times—up to 90%—while ensuring unmatched consistency and control.

Built for efficiency, the Inline Mixer uses a rotor-stator work-head to create strong suction and shear forces that rapidly break down materials and form stable, homogeneous mixtures—all without the need for recirculation tanks.

Product Highlights

  • Ultra-Fast Inline Processing High shear performance enables continuous mixing of liquids and solids in motion, cutting process time by up to 90%.
  • Interchangeable Work-Heads Customize shear levels and flow patterns using quick-change work-heads, making the system versatile across various applications and viscosities.
  • High Suction & Shear Action Rotor blades create powerful suction, pulling material into the shear zone for intense mixing, emulsifying, or milling action.
  • Compact, Inline Design Seamlessly integrates into existing production lines, eliminating the need for batch vessels.

How the Inline Mixer Works

The MIKRONS Inline Mixer uses a rotor-stator work-head for continuous, high-intensity mixing. Here’s how it operates:

  • Suction Phase

High-speed rotor blades create a powerful vacuum that draws fluid and solids into the center of the work-head

  • Shearing Phase

The materials are then pushed outward by centrifugal force and milled in the tight clearance between the rotor blade tips and stator wall.

  • Discharge Phase

The mixture is forced through the perforated stator, generating intense hydraulic shear and ensuring a fine, uniform output through the machine outlet and along the pipework.

Available Options

  • Multiple rotor-stator work-head types
  • Explosion-proof models for hazardous materials
  • Sanitary designs for food, cosmetic & pharma industries
  • Variable frequency drive (VFD) for adjustable shear intensity
  • Custom inlet/outlet ports for pipeline integration
  • Jacketed housing for heating or cooling
This inline method enables continuous mixing with zero bypass, reducing the need for recirculation or additional tanks.

Applications

The Inline Mixer is perfect for continuous processing in industries requiring high-speed emulsification, dispersion, and mixing:

  • Pharmaceuticals - Syrups, suspensions, oral liquids
  • Food & Beverage - Sauces, dairy products, flavor emulsions
  • Cosmetics & Personal Care - Creams, lotions, serums
  • Paints & Inks - Pigment dispersion and base mixing

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • 1. What is the primary advantage of an inline mixer over a batch mixer?

Inline mixers offer continuous, high-shear processing without the need for a mixing tank, drastically reducing time, space, and energy usage.

  • 2. Can I change the shear level in an inline mixer?

Yes. The interchangeable work-heads allow you to adjust shear intensity and flow to match specific material requirements.

  • 3. Is the mixer suitable for heat-sensitive materials?

Absolutely. Inline mixers minimize dwell time and can be provided with jacketed housings for precise temperature control.

  • 4. What types of materials can be processed?

The mixer can handle low to high-viscosity fluids, solids, and gases, making it ideal for emulsions, suspensions, and dispersions.

  • 5. Can the inline mixer be integrated into a CIP (Clean-in-Place) system?

Yes. Sanitary versions are available with CIP/SIP compatibility, especially useful in food, pharma, and cosmetics manufacturing.
